The newspaper strips are dunked in this glue and draped over some form, creating a skin. When this skin dries, it maintains its shape. Shazam! No chisels, no kiln, and no fumes. Unfortunately, the lifespan of paper mache is short. The paper skin is flammable, susceptible to moisture damage and attractive to insects. You should not let this I remember doing paper mГўchГ© as a child with newspaper and flour and water. This Paper MГўchГ© Hot Air Balloon craft uses the same principles, but we used tissue paper and watered down glue instead. I prefer this method and it's great fun for the children and adults a like!

I used to make paper mache with just watered down elmer;s glue, but since glue prices have doubled recently, I find the flour recipe so much more economical.
